This course will provide participants with the understanding of the treatment of drill string designs, as well as the knowledge of how to avoid operations problems and wear on equipment. BHA design concepts, optimization, and drilling hydraulics will be investigated with an emphasis on practical and safe operating procedures. Industry standards will be used as training aids to supplement the presentation material, as well as to provide participants with a thorough understanding of the drill
string component operating limits and practices.

Description

By the end of this course the participant will be able to:
- Understand basic calculations used in well control.
- Fill in the IWCF kill sheet for surface and subsea kill operations.
- Use the drilling data handbook to obtain various tubular data

Day One:
- Steel and Submerged Tubular
- Properties of steel
- Axial force
- Buckling in submerged tubular.
On the first day participants will be given an introduction of what they can expect to learn during the duration of the course. The day will continue on to discuss topics such as the properties of steel.
Participants will also learn about axial force and buckling in submerged tubular on this day.
Day Two:
- Drill pipe Connections and Drill string Design
- Drill pipe connections
- Drill string tension design
- Drill string torque design
Day two will cover drill pipe connections and drill string design. Participants will specifically learn about drill string design in regards to tension and torque.
Day Three:
- Drill string
- Care and inspection
- Damage
- Dynamics
The third day will also cover drill strings. This day will teach participants about the care and inspection of drill strings, as well as drill string damage and dynamics.
Day Four:
- Well Bore, Rheology, and BHA Design
- Wellbore stability
- Mud Rheology
The fourth day of this course will teach participants about wellbore stability and mud rheology.
Day Five:
- Well Bore, Rheology, and BHA Design
- Bit hydraulics
- BHA designs
The last day of this course will teach participants about bit hydraulics and BHA design.
Participants will also learn about specific types of BHA designs, such as rotary, motor, and RSS designs.

This course is suited for Drilling engineers, Drilling supervisors, Directional driller, and Service company personnel with basic drilling engineering skills.

- Classroom lectures and exercises
- Final test (multiple answer tests)

- Participants should be skilled in both drilling engineering and math.

CORE Certificate for each attendee.
