Safety at work is fundamental to the success of any business. Managers and supervisors who have a sound knowledge of safety principles are essential to any business, and this safety training will give
delegates the knowledge they need to help ensure safety in the workplace and to help prevent accidents.

At the completion of the course, participants will be able to:

  • Apply basic management principles and practices to safety and health issues as part of a total management strategy.
  • Set practicable safety and health objectives and plan and implement courses of action to
    achieve them.
  • Recognize safety and health hazards present in the workplace and the types of control
    measures needed to manage them.
  • Take account of risks from work activities arising from human factors
  • Ensure that adequate information, training and supervision is provided for employees in the
    organization
  • Investigate incidents involving injury or damage in order to determine the causes and take appropriate remedial action
  • Communicate effectively on safety and health issues with superiors, the workers they are
    responsible for and safety and health professionals

  • The overall aim of the course is to equip managers and supervisors with the knowledge and
    confidence to effectively discharge their health and safety responsibilities.

  • Have a basic knowledge of health and safety legislation and understand the main legal
    responsibilities of employers and managers and act to fulfill them.

This course is suited for Supervisors and managers who are required to manage efficiently and effectively in compliance with both their organization’s safety policy and safety and health
legislation.

  • Classroom lectures

Assessment will be carried out by authorized IOSH tutor. Achievement of the objectives of the course will be assessed in two ways:

  • A written paper in the form of multiple choice/short question paper on the last day of the
    course.
  • A practical risk assessment carried out in the candidate’s workplace.

50% or more must be achieved for both written and practical assessments. Successful completion will entitle the candidate to receive a Managing Safely certificate and qualification issued and accredited by the Institution of Occupational Safety & Health.
