This course involves a careful examination of all aspects of offshore crane operation. Emphases are on understanding the different types of cranes, standards for crane operator safety, proper rigging techniques, and load chart exercises.
We cover the latest safety regulations and prepare students for the written and practical certification exams.
In this combination classroom and practical course, topics are presented by the instructor, load charts are explained, and then students are given the opportunity for hands-on instruction outside of the class.
On completion of this course the learner will be able to:
- Introduce students to the various types of cranes.
- Demonstrate the functions of each mechanical part.
- Identify the proper rigging techniques.
- Operate crane safely, hoisting materials and personnel on-board/off-board
- Assess danger to the lifting operation from circumstances on site;
- Identify the crane safety devices, log book and maintenance records.
- Calculate the load weight & find the load centre of gravity;
- Using of hand and radio signals.
- Safe crane operating procedures.
- Orient students with capacity tables and load chart exercises

- Attendees should have sufficient experience to use the cranes
- Physically fit (eyesight, hearing and general health).
- Be familiar with understanding method statements, lifting plans & risk assessment.
- Be prepared to deal with contingency plans in emergency cases.
- Five days for newly certificate awarding.
- Three days for re-certification.
